A video uploaded to the YouTube video-sharing site on Monday has claimed that the next target for the Anonymous hacking group was the popular Facebook social networking site, which will be attacked on January 28.
Threatening to shutdown Facebook, the video, released in the name of the Anonymous hacking network, has claimed that the hacking outfit’s recent attacks on public sites are a clear indication that an “online war” has kicked off between Anonymous, the people, and the US government.
While threatening the Facebook shutdown, the video has also acknowledged the fact that attacking the site will be quite difficult as Facebook is one of the world’s biggest websites and it operates via thousands of servers located across the globe.
Noting that the Congress’ possible delay of the anti-piracy legislation will not guarantee that Internet rights will be upheld, the YouTube video has also urged the Americans to take part in the hacking attacks by downloading Low Orbit Ion Cannon (LOIC) tool which shuts down websites by sending thousands of information packets to the servers of the targeted sites.
Instructing the participants about how to download and run the LOIC program for targeting Facebook on January 28 at 12 a. m. (no time zone has been specified), the Anonymous voice said in the video: “Would you like to become part of the greatest Internet protests and first official cyber war? Operation Global Blackout is ongoing and everyone can be a part of it.”
