Germany follows strict moves for Mideast peace process

Foreign Minister of Germany, Guido Westerwelle put it up clearly that the nation believes in not going for unilateral moves in the Middle East peace process as it could turn out to be 'counterproductive'.

The minister was speaking at a joint news conference in the West Bank town of Ramallah where he was joined by Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad. While, he did not specifically take the name of Palestine's efforts to seek recognition and seat in UN, one could understand what he was referring to.

He also stressed on the talks that are between Israel and the Palestinians and said that it is these two only who could achieve a peace deal. This is possible even though there has been no direct dialogue between the two sides since September last year.

While talking to the reporters he said that the German government truly believes that any kind of unilateral move from either side is totally counterproductive and that negotiations is the only way out. Germany is in support of two-state nation solution and that is also needed if the Palestinians want an independent state.
