Summer fete in full swing in Germany

The site that one can see in the otherwise sleepy town of Lübtheen in the Mecklenburg region of eastern Germany is that of a merry and excitement. This is so because the summer fete is going on in full swing in the village.

There are many locals who can be seen wearing red and standing outside their low brick houses, they can also be seen offering home-baked bread and also coming out with smoke-cured sausages for all the guests who care to go up and meet them.

Then there is another group that can found wearing orange T-shirts and mingling with the crowd also distributing leaflets. While talking to The Independent, Ute Lindenau, Lübtheen's mayor said about the Orange T-shirt gang that they can be seen wearing the same color as is used by the campaigners at Angela Merkel's rallies.

No wonder then it is a style of canvassing which has been criticized by Germany's neo-Nazi National Democratic Party (NPD). This is the same party which is fighting hard to save its number of seats at the elections in the eastern state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
