German parliament passes historic law

Bundestag, the German parliament has passed what can be called as a historic law. In it, the country has been asked for clearing of all the nuclear power plants by 2022. This is something unique for Europe as it almost ends a decade old political drama that had been hovering around the issue.

Charge of nuclear plant removal was headed by Chancellor Angela Merkel and the words on the same had been going on since March. But the whole thing came to a proper conclusion, at least officially when Bundestag voted overwhelmingly in favor of the same.

The law won votes 513:79 and there were 8 absentees. The law that was cleared by voice vote received most of the 'no' from the Left party. They too were not asking for the removal of law but wanted swifter timeline for it.

With this, Germany goes on the line of greener routes. It has been decided by them that by 2020, the nation is going to use alternative sources like solar, wind and biomass and would double its contribution. From present 17 per cent they are going to make it 35 per cent.
